Fluorescent In Situ HybridizationFISH study has acquired a great interest in the last few years as the most direct method of visualization of loci with a specific DNA sequence. The popularity of the technique is due to the fact that is more sensitive, less time consuming and avoids the need for experience with high resolution chromosome analysis.
Indications
FISH studies may be ordered as a primary study in few disorders. However, many of the FISH studies are considered a research tool that can be only used as adjuvant to approved clinical diagnostic studies.
