Study of Mosaicism

    This study is done to exclude the presence of two or more cell lines in the examined individual.  This may happen due to a post-zygotic event leading to one or more abnormal cell lines or due to fusion of more than one zygote leading to a chimera ...

    To exclude mosaicism 50-100 cells are examined, counted and visually karyotyped besides the routine number of photographed metaphases and karyotype.

Indication :

bulletStrong suspect of certain chromosomal aberration with normal routine study. 
bulletSyndromes where mosaic cell lines are common e.g. Turner syndrome, Trisomy 8,  etc....
