The Medical genetics center starts its NetworkThe first Egyptian Network for Medical geneticsJan,15, 2001 -- At last, we have a site for medical genetics that serve as a pivot point where all the geneticists in the region meet and discuss their problems, rare cases, agenda and scientific meetings. In Egypt and surrounding countries, We have long suffered of the separate "islands" of genetics units that are scattered all over the area. I pet that several ongoing researches in some of those units are identical; non of the workers knows about his colleague who is working in the same field. The same rule applies to patients with rare genetic disorders who never know that some physician is looking for them to serve them in a better way. I hope that, through The Medical Genetic Network, we shall come closer to each other to achieve our goals in a faster , more economic and efficient way. The net will host a discussion forum through which interested health professionals may submit whatever ideas they like to discuss in the field of medical genetics. This forum is open for everyone who is interested in medical genetics or have a special personal problem with any of the rare genetic disorders. This forum will be an excellent medium to answer technical questions such as "what investigation should be requested? Is it available? Where? what is the best management etc... Our newsletter will cover the most recent issues in the field of medical genetics. We will try to keep it updated as much as we can. Your contribution to this newsletter is strongly needed to let others know about ongoing researches and results of studies done in region.
